Bolder Adventure Park
A new adventure park was designed on (126) helical piles to provide tension support of the canopy around the entire structure. The tension loads requirements for each pile was 38.1 kips working capacity with an installation at 15 degree angles. All helical piles were installed over the course of 5 days. Bolder Adventure Park is an indoor family entertainment center that will be located in the Epic Central district of Grand Prairie, TX. The indoor entertainment facility will provide adventure-based attractions in a 66,000-square-foot building with ceiling heights of approximately 75 feet. The size and height of the indoor facility will allow Bolder and the City of Grand Prairie to offer its guests a truly unique entertainment experience of adventure attractions including Rock Climbing, Zip Lines, Via Ferrata, Ropes Courses, Tubing Slides, Synthetic Ice Skating, Adventure Nets, and more.
Nike Sorter Foundation
USH was contacted by the GC for a Nike DASH Facility in Hutchins, TX to install (122) 3.5” diameter piles to support 2 new sorters inside the existing facility. The facility was to be kept operational during all construction phases so helical piles made sense based on the minimal disruptions. Helical piles were a value engineered design versus traditional concrete piles and saved the client over $500,000.00 while accelerating the schedule as well. NIKE DISTRIBUTION CENTERS. Amazon
Installation of 600+ helical piles inside of an existing Amazon Warehouse. Piles varied in size from 2-7/8” to 5” in diameter. The total duration of installation took four weeks, two weeks ahead of schedule. This was in conjunction with 50+ trades and as many as 400 employees on site. This project was a design build which made things very difficult as loading information and pile quantities changed daily even while on site. Amazon is an online retailer and web service provider. The company provides products such as apparel, auto and industrial items, beauty and health products, electronics, grocery, games, jewelry, kids and baby products, music, sports goods, toys, and tools.
Ok Steel And Wire
US Helicals was hired to supply and install the helical pile deep foundations for a new steel framed structure to provide protection of steel products from the elements. Due to the site access and facilities needing to be fully operational, helical piles were selected as the preferred deep foundation. The helical piles expedited the fast-paced schedule versus traditional concrete piers, but also provided contract savings of nearly $200,000.00. 194 helical piles ranging from 2.875” – 4.5” were utilized in depths ranging from 20’-40’ with required torques as high as 31,000 ft-lbs.
